We offer 4 types of binding for
Saddle Stitched
Slim feel, space-saving, double page images join closely.
Stitched (stapled) booklets used as manuals are an ideal choice if your printed training material is not too long (60 pages or less), and/or contains images that would benefit from presentation over a double-page spread.
This binding is a good choice for courses when all manual content is to be handed out in one go, i.e., not in small modules. Stitched booklets store well as they have no bulky binding and take up less space than wire or spiral-bound booklets.
Stitched booklets are less suitable for courses in which the trainer wishes to hand out modules stage by stage (unless each module is in its own booklet). Ring-bound manuals are more suitable for this.
Wire bound
Secure, flexible and durable: hand out information in one go.
Wire-bound books (sometimes called spiral-bound books) or manuals are the most popular choice for courses where material is to be handed out all at once, i.e., not in small modules. They are also convenient back in the workplace in situations were holding the manual in one hand makes life easier e.g., in a workshop.
Fixed bindings may not be suitable for courses in which the trainer wishes to hand out modules stage by stage. Ring-bound manuals offer a better solution in such cases.
These types of books may also be unsuitable for situations where safety and security could be compromised by the presence of metallic wire. In these cases, plastic coil-bound books may be more suitable.
Fastback
Neat appearance: high-impact, readable spine.
This option gives a document a neat look. Fastback, “Thermal bound books” manuals use a Super Strip, It’s a rugged, multi-purpose binding strip capable of strong tape binding.
Fastback books are suitable for situations where there is a lot of course material which needs to be handed out all at once, i.e., not in small modules.
Fastback binding allows us to quickly turnaround a book unlike perfect bound books
Fastback manuals are less suitable for courses where you may wish to hand out modules stage by stage. Ring-bound manuals are more suitable for this. Also, they may not suit training situations where the material needs to be referred to during the event as they will not remain flat and open as do wire-bound books.
Perfect bound
Neat, ‘published’ appearance: high-impact, readable spine.
This option gives a document a more ‘published’ look. Perfect bound, “paperback book” manuals have a printed spine, making the book easily identifiable on a bookshelf.
Perfect bound books are suitable for situations where there is a lot of course material which needs to be handed out all at once, i.e., not in small modules.
Perfect-bound manuals are less suitable for courses where you may wish to hand out modules stage by stage. Ring-bound manuals are more suitable for this. Also, they may not suit training situations where the material needs to be referred to during the event as they will not remain flat and open as do wire-bound books.
